The Moscow city Government and the Association of Galleries have agreed to jointly develop the capital's art market

The Moscow Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation has signed a cooperation agreement with the Association of Galleries. It is an authoritative professional Association, which includes 17 private commercial galleries and Winzavod Fund for the Support of Contemporary Art.

"Working together on the development of the art market will provide additional tools for its growth. Representatives of the industry will be able to receive expert and information support, help to promote their projects in Russia and abroad," said deputy mayor Natalia Sergunina.

The city and the professional community will hold conferences and exhibitions together, develop and implement programs for entrepreneurs in the creative industries, engage in research activities, analyze the economic indicators of this area and the promising directions of its development. In addition, representatives of the capital's art market are provided for participation in Russian and international exhibition events with financial support from the Government of Moscow.

"As Association of Galleries, we intend to work with the Department to conduct research on the art market, promote industry support programs. We hope to connect the city and galleries. The Association includes both the most experienced players of the Russian art market and young gallerists, which apply different strategies for the development of artists and business in general. Each of us will be happy to share our experience and expertise, vision of those support measures, projects and other tools that will contribute to the development of the art market," said Sofia Trotsenko, a member of the Board of the Association of Galleries and President of Winzavod Fund for the Support of Contemporary Art.

Last year, commercial art galleries had the opportunity to receive subsidies from the city to participate in exhibitions and to promote works of art on specialized online platforms.

In the summer of 2020, in the capital it was settled the first creative technopark Artplay. Its residents can claim a number of measures of support from the Government of Moscow. Among them are subsidies of up to 10 million rubles for leasing or purchasing equipment at their own expense and on payment of interest on loans for this purpose.

At the request of business representatives in 2021, there is the ability to compensate for some of the costs of participation in international competitions and festivals. Another type of the support is a placement of advertising and information materials on the Internet.
