Art market and regions: local is the new global. Discussion in Nizhny Novgorod

Association of Galleries took part in discussion within Creative Leadership Day in Nizhny Novgorod.


We discussed the main problems of art market - Russian in general, and regional in particular - and looked up the ways to solve them. The discussion "Art market and regions: local is the new global" was attended by:

  • Sofya Trotsenko, founder of the Winzavod Contemporary Art Support Fund, Chairman of the Board of AGA
  • Alina Kryukova, entrepreneur, founder of a-s-t-r-a gallery, Postgraduate at the Department of Philosophical Sciences at Lomonosov Moscow State University
  • Irina Saminskaya, Head of Special projects of the Winzavod Foundation
  • Georgiy Smirnov and Elena Smirnova, collectors from Nizhny Novgorod, founders of 9B Gallery
  • Zlata Kornilova, artist, works with objects made of wood, is represented in the galleries FUTURO, Tirage 1/1
  • Dmitry Volodin, collector, founder of the graphics fair "Kontur"

Special attention was paid to the problem of horizontal communication between institutions and art market players throughout Russia. Thanks to the interregional experience of the speakers, several main ways of interaction between the art scenes of different cities of Russia were identified.
