The panel “New Opportunities: Russian Contemporary Art in the BRICS Market” was held at SPIEF 2024

On June 8 at SPIEF 2024, the panel “New Opportunities: Russian Contemporary Art in the BRICS Market” was held.

The moderator was Sofia Trotsenko, founder of the Vinzavod Central Exhibition Center and member of the Board of the Association of Galleries.

▫️ The Russian art industry is increasingly testing its opportunities in non-European countries. Among other things, business projects and intercultural initiatives between the BRICS members are actively developing.

▫️ While China, according to a report by Art Basel and UBS, will occupy 1/5 of the global art market in 2023 and will be the third largest in the world, the Indian art industry is at approximately the same stage of development as in Russia and has virtually no impact on global figures.

The panel included speakers Polina Askeri (Askeri Gallery), Anna Barinova (Anna Nova), Anastasia Volkova (SISTEMA GALLERY), Hosein Mohseni (Artibition), Vasily Tsereteli (Moscow Museum of Modern Art), and Guangyu Zhang (Contemporary Art Center 9).

The participants talked about the prospects for the development and expansion of Russian contemporary art in the BRICS countries and what steps should be taken to realize its potential.
